Tascam Porta Two Ministudio Requires Repair w/ Manuals and Flight Case

This unit requires repairing, the tape heads do not engage for any of the functions (play, record, f.fwd and rewind) and when button is pressed, it immediately disengages. The tape pin constantly spins whether a function is selected or not. All other functionality seems to work, powers on,Ā  lights display when different functions are selected. The flight case is not in the best condition but just about does the job. Comes with power supply, manuals and flight case

The Tascam Porta Two Ministudio is a portable 4-track cassette recorder from the 1980s. It is known for its compact size and was widely used for home recording and music production. The recorder operates at twice the normal speed, allowing for only 1/4th of the playtime marked on a cassette tape. For example, a 60-minute tape can record 4 tracks for 15 minutes.

The Porta Two is designed to record and play back at a higher speed, which results in a higher pitch if played on a standard cassette player. Musicians like Merzbow, Al Schnier, and J-Zone have used this device in their work.

To use regular tapes, you can mute unwanted tracks using the faders. When recording, you can mix down the final tape to a normal stereo tape on another deck to play it at the correct pitch.
